Veterans receive Congressional Commendation

U.S Congressman Ron Wright awarded Congressional Veteran Commendations on Monday January 6 to three Ellis County public servants. The three veterans honored included former U.S Army paratrooper Samuel “Trip” Bryant, former U.S Army combat engineer and Ellis County District Court Judge William D. Wallace, and retired U.S. Navy fighter pilot Jake Ellzey. This is the first time this award has been presented in Ellis County.

Czech music fest coming Feb. 8

The 14th Annual Ennis Czech Musical Festival is set to enliven Sokol Hall, 2622 E. Hwy. 34, between 1 and 11 p.m. on Saturday, February 8. A “Plokaon! Pre-Party” with the group All Around Czechs kicks off the weekend festivities on Friday, Feb. 7 from 7 to 11 p.m.

All Ennis polka bands are participating in the Saturday music fest, including the Jodie Mikula Orchestra, Czech & Then Some and The Moravians. A full list of musicians and performance times is provided at the end of this article.
