Although these old houses are still standing they don’t look much like they did in these photos taken when they were brand new. Above is the Fain House, in the 400 block of N. Preston St., pictured a few years after it was built in 1909. Below is the Novy House, 401 N. Clay, seen here in the winter of 1925, eight years after it was built.
