Two men were involved in a disagreement around 2 a.m. on Saturday morning that ended with one shot dead and the alleged perpetrator on the run. The unnamed victim, a 55year old from Rice, Texas, was unresponsive when police arrived outside a townhouse residence at 1212 Grace Circle, near S. Hall and Lake Bardwell Dr.

Downtown Ennis is the place to be next weekend. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, April 6-8, is expected to draw scores of people and energy to go along with the anticipation of the total eclipse. Music fans are sure to enjoy three bands, including LeFreak at 3 p.m. after the moon blocks out the sun The greatest disco band in the world, LeFreak, are very popular in Ennis. As the eclipse exits to the northeast at 3:02 p.m., the band stage at McKinney and Sherman will yield to the flashback of fun and funk by Minnesota’s Mick James, Bo Bandit, Marvin Jackson-Osmond and Curly Brown.

Ellis County’s Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, a leading advocate for public health, joins the nationwide effort to shed light on the impact of diabetes and encourage proactive health measures within the community.

Art Association hosts sketchbook presentation

The Ellis County Art Association will host artist Tammy Wascovich at the monthly meeting, April 1 at First Baptist Church of Waxahachie, 450 US 287 Bypass. The meeting is open to the public.
