Congressman Ellzey packs house in Ennis

What has been drawing approximately forty people to Jake Ellzey’s Coffee with the Congressman venues, attracted a standing room only venue on August 3 in downtown Ennis. A spirited and positive assembly more than doubling expectations left for a successful setting at Fern in the Wild on Knox Street.

Ennis ISD begins the new school year with a number of changes in administration at 10-of-the-12 campuses, half of them as new assistant principals. The other six are principals.

An invitation for the public at-large to attend the Greater Ennis United Way is set for Thursday, August 31, at 11:30 a.m. at Tabernacle Church, 1200 Country Club.

School Board meeting

The first EISD school board meeting, which is open for parents to attend, is at 7:00 p.m. this Tuesday, Aug. 8, at the mirrored Central Administration Building at 303 W. Knox Street.

Monday, July 31, hundreds of Ennis ISD teachers, staff and administrators rallied together in the high school auditorium to jump-start the new school year. They did not need jumper-cables, but to make sure, Supt. Jay Tullos and a number of energy-induced activities revealed 437 teachers were more than ready to start the new school year. Ennis Cheerleaders for the coming 2023-2024 school year have been selected. New HC Erica Todd has led the team in recent months and announced to The Ennis News the Varsity and Junior Varsity cheer team rosters as well as who has been named team captains. In addition, it is now public who will don the Samson mascot suit.
