Palmer Boys are the lone district champion from the six-schools in The Ennis News coverage. An inspirational story, the Bulldogs, 24-4 in all games and 12-0 in District 18-3A, have meshed incredibly considering their best player and defending District MVP, Makaden Bodie, missed the entire season to a knee injury.

Rice beats S-R at buzzer, 58-56

Clutch in close encounters, Rice (23-8, 11-3) continued their climb to the top of District 18-3A with a 58-56 win over Scurry-Rosser. Saniya Burks ripped the nets with the winner on a mid-range jumper to cap a 31-point night. She also had seven assists.

Bulldogs top Scurry-Rosser, 53-45

Palmer earned the second of two wins against local rival, Scurry-Rival, 53-45, on Friday. Outscoring the Wildcats in each of the first three quarters allowed the first place Bulldogs to carry a 40-31 advantage into the final eight minutes.

Burks, Nezar power Rice to win

Rice (20-8) continued their hot streak last Friday when they whipped Eustace (13-17), 46-35, on the road. The Blue Hounds built a 39-21 lead through three quarters and coasted to victory. A decisive 16-2 third quarter was the difference.
