Jim or JT, as he was known to friends and family, was born on October 13, 1933 in Ennis, Texas. He began helping his father on the farm at the age of 6 and continued on into high school until he got a job at the Ferris Brick Yard working after school. He graduated from Ferris High School in 1952 where he was named the Outstanding Male Student.
After graduation, Jim worked for Sears, Roebuck & Co. in Dallas until he enlisted in the US Army. After serving two years in the Army, he went to work at American Can Co. in Arlington. During his early days at American Can Co., he and his wife, Ginna, were blessed with four beautiful children.
Jim and Gaylene married in 1985. After moving to Granbury in 1986, Jim continued to work at American Can Co. until they closed its doors in 1987 and Jim retired after 32 years of service. Not ready to fully retire, he began another career as a courier for Community Data Service in Cleburne retiring after seven years.
After 14 years in Granbury, Jim and Gaylene moved to Lancaster and finally settled in Temple. During his retirement years, Jim enjoyed working in his yard, woodworking, reading, and watching the Texas Rangers.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James T. and Ada Pearl Nunn, and sisters, Katie Stewart, Mildred Dickerson, and Virginia Rickman.
Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gaylene; a daughter, Kathy Nielson and husband Kurt of Conroe; his sons, Eric Nunn and wife Lisa of Midlothian, Paul Nunn and wife Julie of Ponder, and son Shawn Nunn and wife Joy of Arlington; sister, Pat Harkins of Waxahachie; brother, Mike Nunn of Palmer; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and fur babies, Sam and Emily.
The family wishes to thank everyone at Standards Hospice, especially Stacey Ross, and Visiting Angels for their loving care of Jim and the support provided to Gaylene during the last few months of Jim’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite children’s or animal charity.
