Joe Biden sworn in as 46th President

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have officially taken office as the next president and vice president of the United States.
At 79, Biden is the oldest person sworn in as president. His vice president, Kamala Harris, 56, is making history as the first woman, and first person of color, to hold one of the two offices elected nationally.
The Secret Service and local authorities have shut inbound traffic on most bridges across the Potomac River, along with Metro stations in and near the security zone — stopping short of sealing off the city but making it hard for any mob to interfere with this rite. The National Mall, where throngs congregate on Jan. 20 every four years, was off limits.
