Nellie Bedee Hedderman Jordan was born Aug. 17, 1922, in San Antonio, TX, at Lackland Air Force Base to Francis and James Hedderman. Soon after her birth, her parents divorced and her mother moved Nellie and her four siblings to Houston, and eventually Dallas.

They often shared with others the abundance of vegetables they grew in their garden. After Arthur passed away, Nellie lived in Greenville until 2010 and then moved to Ennis to be closer to family. She lived at the IOOF Residence and enjoyed the many friendships she developed there, along with the activities and celebrations that took place at the Center.
