James Earl Hart

James Earl Hart of Ennis, Texas born on December 5, 1937, to Garland and Gladys Hart, went on to be with the Lord on September 20, 2022, in Corsicana, Texas. James, also known as “Cowboy,” was quite the jokester. His playful sense of humor will be greatly missed. He was caring, giving and always willing to help anyone he felt was in need. As a young teenager he joined the Army, spending 3 years serving his country in Korea before being honorably discharged.

James married his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley Joyce Dodson on September 20, 1963. He worked for many years on the Burden Ranch before starting and managing his own trucking company until retirement. He was a lifelong resident of Ennis and a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church.

If he wasn’t at home giving Joyce a hard time you could probably find him harassing the folks at Roy’s Pawn Shop. He enjoyed gun shopping, watching old western movies but particularly anything that starred John Wayne. He loved fishing, spending time with his family and teaching his grandsons how to play games like dominos and swindle. They are left with wonderful memories of their time together and time he spent teaching them valuable life lessons from driving a car to good work ethic.

James is survived by his wife Shirley Joyce Hart, son James Paul Hart, grandsons James Paul Hart Jr. and Christopher Wyatt Hart as well as his brother Billy Gene Hart.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Allen Hart and Wayne Hart.

Burial took place on Friday, September 30, 2022, in Telico Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home, 800 South Kaufman Street, Ennis, Texas. www.bozemitchellmckibbin.com.
