Joseph Albert Barak
Joseph A. Barak, Sr. 92, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at his home in Ennis, Texas. Joseph was born in Bryan, Texas on June 7, 1930 to Angelina (Luza) and Frank Barak. Joe (Jody) joined the United States Marine Corp at the age of 18 and served for 3 years. On June 18, 1951 Joe married the love of his life, Helen Matous. They made their home in Bryan, Mesquite and finally settled in Ennis, Texas. After marrying the love of his life he claimed Frances and Jerry Matous as his second parents. Joe enjoyed river fishing, hunting, and putting jigsaw puzzles together.
Joe joined the Carpenters Union and worked as a construction worker, working his way up to Construction Superintendent.
Joe was a member of Saint John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis. One of his favorite things to do was say the Rosary.
Family was extremely important to Joe. He loved all his family. He was a very stubborn man but very generous with his time. He would always drop what he was doing to go help someone. He loved spending time with his family and always had a nickname for the little ones. Joe had seven children: Susie, Dianne, Barbara and husband Steve, Joe, Jr. and wife Billie, Alan and wife Marita, Patricia, Jimmy and wife Bobbie. He has 23 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, second parents, 6 sisters, 2 brothers and 2 daughters.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 10 a.m. in Saint John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father John Dick as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Ennis under the direction of Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be: Randy Barak, David Zhanel, Philip Barak, Eric Jessup, Christopher Barak, Joey Laznovsky, Brian Zhanel, Scott Barak, and Johnny Joe Laznovsky.
