Edwin James Plasek
Edwin James Plasek, 82, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, in Ennis, Texas. Ed was born in Ennis, Texas, on May 16, 1941, to Louis and Augusta Mary (Jurica) Plasek. Ed grew up in Ennis and graduated from St. John High School in 1959. Ed married the love of his life on April 14, 1961, Joyce Jurik and they made their home in Ennis. Ed served his country proudly in the United States Army Reserves.
Ed began his career at Sims Grocery and Safeway, the Pontiac House in Ennis. In 1976 Ed opened Ed’s Garage where he served the community with quality car repairs until his retirement in December 2022. Ed was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, KJT, and Knights of Columbus. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and farming.
Ed is survived by his son, David Plasek; daughter, Kelly Falkenbach; grandchildren Kara Blazier and husband, Nick, Scott Falkenbach and wife, Haven, Haven Hicks and husband, Zach, Kaden Plasek, Julia Springer and husband, David; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Ernie Plasek; sisters: Louis Bush and Betty Jo Walding: sister-in-law, Nancy Jurik and husband, Gray Cavender along with a host of extended family and friends.
Ed is preceded in by his parents, his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Joyce Plasek and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
Mass of the Christian Burial was held on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 10 a.m. in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father John Dick as celebrant. Interment followed in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
Lunch was served at the SOKOL after the committal service.
