Bobby Gerald Rutherford
Bobby Gerald Rutherford, 83, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, June 18, 2019.
Bobby was born in Rice, Texas on December 29, 1935 to Albert G. and Ethel Lucile (Cassels) Rutherford. He grew up in Emhouse and Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1956. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington. On November 19, 1965 Bobby married the love of his life Linda Bryan and they made their home in Oak Cliff before settling in Mesquite in 1972.
Bobby worked in his younger years for Mc-Clain’s Grocery and worked for the United State Postal Service for thirty-five years before retiring in 1992 as a Financial Manager. He was a member of the Mesquite Genealogical Society, Boy Scouts of America from 1977-1992 where he served as an Assistant Scout Master for Troop #108. Bobby was the District Commissioner of the Tomahawk District, Past PTA President at Hanby Elementary and member of the Corvette Rally Club of Dallas.
He is survived by his wife of over fifty-three years, Linda Rutherford; son, Bryan Rutherford and wife, Kim; daughter, Jennifer Rutherford; four grandchildren: Katie, Rowan, Laurel and Carleigh; brothers: Jimmy Dean Rutherford and Albert Glenn Rutherford; sisters: Verlon Seaboalt and Helen Louise Vrzalik along with a host of extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
A Celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 3 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Interment will follow in Grady Cemetery of Rankin under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Scouts BSA, Circle Ten Council, John D. Murchison Scouting Center, 8605 Harry Hines, Dallas, TX 75235 in Bobby’s name
