Charles B. Hodge

Charles B. Hodge was born on February 23,1932, on the banks of Onion Creek in Byrd, Texas. He graduated from Ennis High School, Abilene Christian University and Harding University. Charles was a preacher for over sixty years, at churches throughout north Texas and Arkansas. His primary churches were Rosemont Church of Christ in Fort Worth, Texas, Duncanville Church of Christ and Bardwell Church of Christ. Charles authored over twenty-two books during his lifetime, including “Will God Run?” and “Amazing Grace!”

Preacher, author, speaker, farmer, pilot, father and husband, Charles often said he was the “most blessed person on earth.” He died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, November 1, 2020, at the age of eighty-eight. Reunited with loved ones, he is likely, either eating a thick slice of chocolate pie, petting dogs or playing handball right now.

Charles is survived by Helen, his wife for sixtyeight years; four children- Sherri Marchant, and her husband, Michael, Terry Hallmark, Jack Hodge and his wife, Laura, Jerry Hodge and his wife, Lori as well as ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Grady Cemetery Association, 1044 Sandswitch Road, Ennis, Texas 75119.

The immediate family had a short graveside service at the Grady Cemetery in Byrd, Texas. Pawpaw wrote at the bottom of his instructions, “See you in Heaven!”
