Emilie 'Millie' Elizabeth Elbert
Emilie (Millie) Elbert, 91, passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by her family and friends. She was the Krajca family matriarch/ historian and was deeply loved by everyone. Emilie was born on April 2, 1933 in Ennis, Texas to Mary Pavlacka and Joseph F. Krajca. She was baptized and attended St. John Catholic Church and School, Ennis, Texas and moved to Dallas, Texas when she married Emil R. Horak on June 30, 1951. She dedicated 20 years to Lucent Technologies, Mesquite, Texas until she retired in 1993. She was a member of the SPJST Lodge 84 and KJZT Ennis.
Emilie found joy in anything that was family related such as birthday parties, holiday parties, and any family gathering. She truly enjoyed Sunday brunches with her children and grandchildren. In her younger years, she enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, fishing, walking, playing bingo and especially talking with people and getting to know everyone. She never met a stranger.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Emil R. Horak, in 1975 and second husband, James Elbert, married 1979 and died 1995; along with parents, Mary and Joseph Krajca; baby sister, Beatrice Krajca, brothers/sisters and their spouses: Adele & Joe Krajca, Mary & Eddie Dlabaj, Geraldine and Joe Laza, Caroline & Norbert Krajca, Olga and George Janicek and sister-in-law, Shirley Krajca.
Emilie leaves behind a loving legacy through her two children: Emilie’s son, Dr. Ken Horak, and his wife, Debbie with their 4 children: Jessica & Richard Wolff and their two children Alice & Jack; Jonathan Horak; Elizabeth & Chase Nelson with their two daughters, Sunny & Willow and Michael Horak. Emilie’s daughter, Linda, and her husband Danny McMullen with their 3 children: Kelli & Timothy Black, Connor McMullen and Cassidy Mc-Mullen.
Leaving behind are her loving brothers & sisters: Raymond Krajca, Jan & Rudy Ozymy, Joann Mounts, and Doris & Alphie Krajca along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jonathan Horak, Michael Horak, Richard Wolff, Chase Nelson, Tim Black and Connor McMullen.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 , from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with Rosary at 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in J.E. Keever Mortuary Ennis Chapel, 408 N. Dallas St., Ennis, TX 75119 .
Mass of the Christian Burial was held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 10 a.m., at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 401 E. Lampasas St., Ennis, TX 75119.
Immediately following the Mass, Emilie was laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
