Louis A. Dolezalik
Louis A. Dolezalik, age 84, passed away on January 19, 2021, in Dallas, Texas. He was born in Ennis on September 29, 1936, to Louis M. and Agnes (Novosad) Dolezalik. He graduated from Saint John High School in 1954 and attended Navarro Junior College, receiving his Associate of Science Degree in 1956. Louis married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Jo Ann Jurica Dolezalik, on October 12, 1957, and they shared 62 wonderful years together.
After college, Louis worked for various Dallas/ Ft. Worth area medical laboratories, including The Bio-Assay Laboratory (American Biomedical Corporation) as Chief Technologist, Southwest Medical Laboratories and Damon Clinical Laboratories as Operations Manager, Nichols Institute Laboratories as Sales Representative, and Harris-Methodist Hospital of Ft. Worth as Lab Manager.
Louis and Jo Ann enjoyed vacationing at the beach with their children, trips to Colorado, and going to casinos. They also traveled extensively to other Czech communities while working on family genealogy. Louis’s favorite pastimes included being outdoors in the yard or garage, selling antiques at the Canton and Bowie flea markets, grilling steaks on Sunday, and dancing and listening to polka music and the Lonnie Dean Band. He liked spending time with family, especially the grandkids.
Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann, who passed away on July 6, 2020. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: Four children, Michael Dolezalik and wife Janice, Greg Dolezalik and wife Janna, Patricia Ozymy and husband Bryan, Patrick L. Dolezalik and partner Jessica K. Maynard, and daughters-in-law, Anna Dolezalik and Peggy Dolezalik; 13 grandchildren, Stephen R. Dolezalik II (Nicole Rauchman), Nick and Eric Dolezalik, Katelyn Tenholder and husband Charles, Holly and Aubrey Dolezalik, Erica Ozymy Watson and her husband Colten, Danielle, Ryan, Matthew, Jake and Zachary Ozymy, and Noah Dolezalik; 3 great grandchildren, Dillon Dolezalik, Paisley Giesher and Penny Dolezalik; brother, Joe Dolezalik and wife, Cindy; sister, Dorothy Williams; brothers-in-law, Tony Jurica, and Raymond Jurica and wife Barbara; sister-in-law, Genevieve Dorton and husband Marvin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also preceded in death by his parents, Louis M. and Agnes Dolezalik, two sons, Stephen Ray Dolezalik and Duane Dolezalik, sister-in-law, JoAnn Jurica, and brother-in-law, Larry Williams.
Rosary was recited at 9:30 a.m., on Friday, January 22, 2021, and Mass of Christian Burial followed at 10 a.m., both at Saint John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father John Dick as Celebrant. Interment was at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Ennis.
To protect against the spread of COVID-19, the family asked that masks be worn and social distancing rules followed. Memorials may be made to Saint John Church, Novenas, the Layman’s Cemetery trust, Catholic Daughters, Saint John Altar Society, or Saint John Alumni Association.
