Robert James Jurica

Robert James Jurica, 80, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 21, 2024 at his home in Ennis, Texas surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born in Ennis, Texas on July 7, 1944, to John Lee and Helen (Pekar) Jurica. Robert grew up in Ennis and graduated from St. John’s High School in 1962. That is where he met the love of his life Irene (Salik) Jurica. They were married on September 14, 1963 and made Ennis their home.

Robert began his career at Economy Volkswagen in Dallas and later Porsche Audi in Richardson. In 1975, after a fire destroyed his father’s business, Robert rebuilt the OK Garage. This garage was the only town business servicing foreign and domestic vehicles. Robert finished his career at the OK Garage and retired in 2014.

Robert was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and the KJT. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working on cars. He also enjoyed barbecuing with his son and making homemade Czech pickles with his daughters.

He is survived by his wife Irene of 61 years, daughter Lori and husband Keith Honeycutt who reside in Round Rock, Texas, daughter Gail and husband Thomas Peyton who reside in Frisco, Texas and son Scott and wife Laura who reside in Ennis. Grandchildren Drew Wilhoite, Ryan Honeycutt, Cody Honeycutt, Trevor and his wife Zoraida Wilhoite, Dylan and his wife Avery Honeycutt, Jonah Jurica, Jackson Jurica, Preston Peyton, Kaylee Jurica and Rylee Jurica. Two step-granddaughters, Crystal Peyton, Misty Prachyl, and her family. Great grandchildren Eleanor, Evelyn, Elizabeth Wilhoite and Luka Honeycutt. He is survived by his sister Rose Marie Novy and brother Bill Jurica.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, John Jr. and Richard Jurica.

Visitation was held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 6 pm to 8 pm, with a Rosary at 7 pm, at the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

Mass of the Christian Burial was held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetary, and a Celebration of his life followed at Sokol Hall.
