Robert Price Roye

Dr. Robert Price Roye, 60, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on December 22, 2022. Robert was born in San Antonio, Texas, on May 16, 1962, to Mary Beth (Rosser) and Watson “Payne” Roye. From the moment he was born as the youngest of 5 kids, he was constantly charging forward. He only operated at one level: full speed ahead. He was known to be his daddy’s little shadow, from the horse stables to the local court house. He played every sport and found great joy in joining his older brothers on the field. His sisters were overjoyed to have a real-life baby doll in their lives.

He graduated from Graham High School in 1980 and the University of Texas at Austin in 1984. In 1982, Robert married Celia Claire Mobley, and in 1988, they had a son, Benjamin. He graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio College of Medicine in 1988 and moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for his orthopaedic residency. Celia and Robert divorced in 1991.

Robert met the love of his life, Pam, in Oklahoma City, and they were married on January 30, 1993. Robert completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in June of 1993. After completing his board certification in orthopedic surgery, Robert and Pam then moved to Waxahachie, Texas, and established his orthopedic practice, Regional Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center.

They were blessed with a large, close family that included Ben and their five other children Carson, Alysann, Natalie, Lucy, and Payne plus a bonus son, Eli. Robert took special interest in each new activity that his children learned and coached every sport they were involved in. Whatever they were interested in, he was, too. He was always ready to listen and have hard conversations when needed. He had the innate ability to make you feel like you were his very favorite person.

He treated his patients like family. He was lucky to have a practice that spanned multiple decades in the same “small town.” This allowed him to treat entire generations of families during his years in practice. He truly loved every day of work and spending time with his extended work family. Many years of birthdays, celebrations, and Christmas parties will be remembered by staff and family alike.

His legacy includes the numerous lives he impacted by just being himself. Just like his father before him, he understood the value of investing in people.

He did that with youth in the community through coaching and advising them, by taking medical mission trips, and spreading his love of sports. He believed that by helping one person and positively impacting their life, he could help shape the future. For Robert, that one person was Eligio Salazar, and their bond was a special one.

Robert is survived by his wife, Pamela Sue Roye, of Waxahachie. He is also survived by his children and grandchildren: Benjamin Anthony Travis Roye and wife Siru (granddaughter Finley Marie Sylvia), Carson Andrew Roye and wife Chasity (granddaughter Kennedy Jean and grandson Graham Price), Alysann Grace (Roye) Rutan and husband Brock (granddaughter Harper Lee), Natalie Suzanne (Roye) Calkins and husband Skyler, Lucile Pearl Roye, and Payne Augustus Roye.

He is also survived by his mother Mary Beth (Rosser) Roye, siblings: sister Melinda and husband Randy Miller, brother Dr. Watson Payne “Sonny” and wife Teresa Roye, brother Rosser “Ross” Earl and wife Kelli Roye, brother-in-law Steve Long, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by his father Watson “Payne” Roye and sister Mary “Tresa” Long.

Service will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at The Avenue Church at 1761 N Highway 77 Waxahachie, Texas. Family visitation will be held prior to the service from 2-3pm. In lieu of flowers, Robert’s last request of his family was to donate blood since he was so often a recipient during his major heart surgeries. Robert would be thrilled if friends and families donated blood in his honor to help others. Otherwise, the family asks that you consider donating to the American Heart Association or The Avenue Church of Waxahachie in Robert’s honor.
