Rosie Horak Mikula

Rosie Horak Mikula, age 93, went home to her Lord on Saturday, July 20, 2019, in Dallas, Texas. She was born in Ennis, Texas, on November 20, 1925, to John and Annie (Burianek) Horak.

Rosie married the love of her life, Jodie Mikula in October, 1947. Jodie formed the “Jodie Mikula Orchestra” in 1967 and Rosie was the first drummer to play with them. They have been playing for over 50 years and she was their most loyal fan. The orchestra continues to play today even though Jodie is not with them. Rosie worked for Haggar Slacks as a seamstress for 35 years and retired in 1985. Rosie enjoyed working in the yard and gardening. She also enjoyed cooking, dancing, and loved fishing. Rosie was most fond of her family and especially her grandchildren. She always had a smile for them. She also belonged to the KJZT and St. John’s Catholic Church.

Rosie is survived by three sons; Kenneth and wife, Becky Mikula of Ennis, Nick and wife, Patty Mikula of Palmer, and Andy and wife, Sandra Mikula of Ennis, grandchildren; Keith and wife, Sarah Mikula, Brad Evans and wife Katrina, Cassie and husband, Justin Powell, Nicholas Mikula, Andrew and wife, Natalie Mikula, Savannah and husband, Chris Gilburt, Brianna and husband Ryan Waedekin, Corey Mikula and fíance Samantha Derden, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister Judy Ewell, and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Albrecht.

Rosie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jodie who died on December 19, 1989, four brothers and four sisters.

There was a visitation for family and friends from 6 P.M. – 8 P.M. with a rosary at 7 P.M. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Ennis.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father John Dick as Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Ennis.
