In golf the adage is – you drive for show but putt for dough. Football is built on blocking and tackling where the game is usually won in the trenches. Dominate the line of scrimmage means you can run the football or have time to pass it.It is when the opposing defense can swarm to the ballcarrier by shucking would-be blockers and wreaking havoc before the offense can get rolling that the other side prevails. That’s why the bread-and-butter basics are running the ball on offense and preventing the same by the opponent. It often determines who wins and who loses.
