Republican Ron Wright, who was elected in 2018 and 2020 to serve this area, Texas’ 6th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives, passed away last week at age 67. In July of 2019 he announced he had been diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer.
Having succeeded Congressman Joe Barton, from Ennis, he edged Jake Ellzey in the primary and then defeated Democrat Jana Lynne Sanchez. He ran for reelection in 2020, and defeated Stephen Daniel.
