SB I-20 at US 175 to EB US 175 Ramp to Close for a Month

Weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will temporarily close the ramp at southbound Interstate 20 (I-20) at US 175 to eastbound US 175, beginning Monday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. It is expected to reopen by Friday, Oct. 16 at 5 a.m. Detours will be in place.

Crews will strip and resurface the bridge deck during the month-long closure.

Paula Castillo Gonzalez, 60, passed away in Waxahachie, Texas on September 11, 2020. Paula was born in Puerta Del Rio, Mexico on March 10, 1960 to Nicolas and Andrea (Cazares) Castillo. She grew up in Mexico until the age of 12 when they moved to Houston. On September 20, 1984 she married Noe Gonzalez and they made their home in Katy, Brookshire, Patterson, Sealy and finally settled in Ennis in 1988.

She was an entrepreneur in real estate along with her initial business Paula’s Hot Tamales. Paula was a devout Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Friday marks the start of Class 5A and 6A football, with No. 1 ranked Ennis traveling 25 miles to play No. 9 Red Oak. The matchup of state ranked teams could go either way as both have 14 starters returning from last year.

Seating at Billy Goodloe Stadium has been increased, though still undersized at 7,100. The UIL has mandated a limit on the size of the audience, which will require advance purchase of tickets, likely to the immediate family of players, band, cheer team, etc.
