Construction work will begin in late summer or early fall on the Ennis Public Library, a plan that take two years and cost over $4 million for the complete renovation and upgrade.

Museum’s education exhibition

The Ennis Public Library is excited to announce its participation in September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World, a downloadable educational exhibition that presents the history of 9/11, its origins, and its ongoing implications through the personal stories of those who witnessed and survived the attacks. Told across 14 posters, this exhibition includes archival photographs and images of artifacts from the Museum’s permanent collection.

Friends of the Library Children’s Book Sale

The Friends of the Ennis Public Library will be having a Children’s Book Sale on Thursday, June 24, 2021, 12 p.m. - 2 p.m.; Friday, June 25, 2021, 12 p.m. - 2 p.m.; and Saturday, June 26, 2021, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. The sale will be held inside the library in the event center. Books will be priced at $0.50 each all three days.

Seven local children and Natalie Mikula took in the new “Story Walk Adventure Book” at Lions Park. Here they are at station No. 7 in the 20-station story walk displayed by the Ennis Public Library. A new book is featured each month, with January’s entitled “Cold Snap.” Natalie’s mobile crew included Joshua Mikula, Emily Mikula, Noah Mikula, Obadiah Mikula, Audrey Spurlock, Asher Spurlock, Elliana Spurlock, with Natalie on the back left.

Black History Month tribute at the Ennis Public Library

COMMUNITY 

Lifelong educator Matilda Williams, of Ennis, models a printed dress of African attire next to a new display she designed for Black History Month now exhibited at the Ennis Public Library.

Included in the feature are authentic African masks, a creative model of tribal people, original hand-painted works of black ceramic art by Williams, and a copy of the original “Green Book,” which was an Oscar winning movie last year. “It was the book Blacks used for traveling,” she said.
