After Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declared Ellis County a part of the Hurricane Laura Disaster Declaration, not for damages done, but instead for serving people fleeing north on the I-45 corridor. Here Ennis Fire Marshall Chad Wester helps render aid to a woman from Lake Charles, Louisiana. A number of EFD staff were involved in the project.
The Knights of Columbus Hall served to provide food, snacks, fruit and water as well as directing people towards available lodging. Gift cards were also available while supplies lasted.
