Chamber of Commerce names new president

Ennis Chamber of Commerce announced last week the hiring of Geoeffery Williams as the new chairman of the civic group. He will begin on Monday, January 24, 2022, at the Chamber’s new offices at 207 N.W. Main Street.

Williams comes to Ennis after 12 years as the Vice President of Engagement at the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce on Preston Road.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have officially taken office as the next president and vice president of the United States.

At 79, Biden is the oldest person sworn in as president. His vice president, Kamala Harris, 56, is making history as the first woman, and first person of color, to hold one of the two offices elected nationally.

President Trump agrees to "orderly" transition

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump acknowledged his defeat in the Nov. 3 election and announced that there  would be an “orderly transition on January 20th”.   President Trump's acknowledgment came after a day of chaos and destruction on Capitol Hill when protesters stormed the Capitol, forcing members into hiding and halting the congressional count for more than six hours.
