Ellis County updating Hazard Mitigation Action Plan with FEMA grant

Ellis County, TX – After multiple instances of severe flooding in the area between Waxahachie and Palmer, Ellis County Emergency Management is incorporating updated flood control measures into its Hazard Mitigation Action Plan, among other improvements. The county’s Hazard Mitigation Action Plan (HazMAP) is part of an ongoing process to identify and update deficiencies in natural disaster mitigation that is funded by a grant of over $300,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

As of Today, Ellis County proudly announces the launch of the Ellis County Economic Relief Grant (ERG). The following grant has been established as a partnership between county government, healthcare agencies, nonprofits/social service agencies, and local small businesses to assist in the fight against the effects of COVID-19. This grant is intended to further stimulate local economic recovery, reduce unemployment, and assist qualifying groups by providing additional financial resources to entities across the Ellis County economy. “We are living in extraordinary times.
