Helping Hands Open House

Helping Hands of Ennis is hosting an Open House on Tuesday, May 10, between 5-7 p.m. The come-and-go event includes refreshments and will be held at their facilities located at 604 NE Main Street. “We will allow our guests to tour our newly remodeled building,” said Samantha Mendoza, “in which everyone will see our expanded waiting area, renovated office area, expanded pantry and renovated thrift shop.”

Director Korey McCrady will help facilitate tours of the building and has indicated that “guests will get the opportunity to meet our board of directors and staff.”

Helping Hands of Ennis has been assisting families in Eastern Ellis Counties in crisis since 1988, and includes the on-site Spirit of Sharing Thrift Store.

NARFE to Hold May Meeting

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), Chapter 1191, will hold its monthly meeting at the Sirloin Stockade in Corsicana on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Sirloin Stockade is located at 2508 W.7th Ave.(TX Hwy 31) in Corsicana.

The guest speaker will be Capt. Dan Summerall, U.S. Navy, Retired, who will describe life aboard an aircraft carrier. Capt. Summerall, a native of Corsicana, is a veteran of 26 years of U.S. Navy service, mostly flying from the decks of aircraft carriers in the Pacific. Capt. Summerall continues to be active in aviation, currently serving as Operations Officer for the local Coyote Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force headquartered in Corsicana.

NARFE Chapter 1191 has members from Ellis, Navarro and surrounding counties. Members, guests, and all who are part of our federal active and retired family are invited.
