EJHS Honors Band advances to Area Round, June 21-22

Ennis Junior High School Honors Band will compete in the Area Round this Wednesday, June 21, at Red Oak High School. At stake is a performance worthy of advancing to the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention in San Antonio in July.

Ennis ISD wasted little time following the retirement of 29-year EHS Band Director Gary Goodwin before introducing the new Marching Band Director in David Ingram. Summer practice and marching drills begin in five weeks.

Mach calls decision to teach her best-ever

One of two instructors named Teacher-ofthe- Year by the Ennis Independent School District, Regina Mach, has invested 32-years in her craft, the last 17 at Austin Elementary. She said she was “happily surprised” at the announcement. Capping her ninth straight year of teaching 2nd Grade, she has averaged between 18-22 students during her career, the first 15 years in the Ferris ISD. A simple conversation makes it clear that Mach’s passion is teaching youngsters.

Bardwell bridge work extended

Repair work on the Bardwell Reservoir bridge is nearing the end of the initial contract. Texas Department of Transportation (Tx-DOT), has announced a decision that will add nearly another year onto the project.
