Ellis County announced this week the capital murder case for the shooting deaths of Rodney Dent and Caleb Clark has been set for a jury trial on Monday, June 19, 2023. The case is indicted in the 443rd District Court at 109 S. Jackson Street in Waxahachie.
Opinions and statistics on violent crimes in the United States vary, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, but the need to curb what is viewed as an increase is as true as it was in the 1990’s, when crime was much more prevalent.
The 23rd annual national observance of MLK Day went off in Ennis last week with even more than a special commemoration at San Jacinto Auditorium, 501 N. Gaines. The occasion honored the talents of schoolchildren in the Bluebonnet City. And the anniversary had many other people around town thinking of and appreciating the legacy of the civil rights leader who gave his life for the cause of equality in 1968.
