Elf Seek & Find prize awaits winner

With hundreds of kids and adults competing, the popular downtown annual Elf Seek & Find game, which went on for a month, has yet to crown a winner a week after the contest ended.

The Ennis version of Elf on a Shelf included eleven colorful elves, reportedly from the North Pole, positioned in sight to challenge the peepers of shoppers. Downtown merchants placed the elves in storefront windows, visible, but not as easy as some would hope.

Ellis County Master Gardener now accepting scholarship applications

In 2003, Ellis County Master Gardener Association (ECMGA) a Section 501c3 organization, decided to make scholarships available to graduating high school seniors residing in Ellis County. We wanted to provide opportunities to these students that chose college studies in horticulture and/or life sciences disciplines. Since then, we have awarded 48 graduating high school students with college scholarships totaling $98,100.

British author consults local writer for new history book

English art expert and cultural historian Martin Williams is writing a book on the history of the last year of the reign of King Edward VII (1909-10) and to do it he has consulted a local writer known for his expertise on the early 1900s fashion designer Lucile (Lady Duff Gordon).
