Joyce Jurik Plasek
Joyce Jurik Plasek, 76, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019 in Waxahachie, Texas surrounded by her loved ones.
Joyce was born in Ennis, Texas on November 13, 1942 to Willie C. and Carolyn (Nekuza) Jurik. She grew up in Bardwell and attended school in Bardwell graduating from St. John Catholic High School in 1960. Joyce went on to attend Rutherford Business College. On April 17, 1961 Joyce married the love of her life Edwin J. Plasek and they made their home in Ennis.
Joyce worked for seven years as a secretary for Ennis Business Forms before joining her husband as Office Manager for Ed’s Garage in 1976. Joyce was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and KJZT. Joyce was very active in the community serving on the St. John Booster Club where she was Booster of the year for 1981-1982, was the Director of the Ennis Chamber of Commerce from 1987-1995, was Volunteer of the Year for the Ennis Chamber of Commerce for 1990-1991 and was a member of the City of Ennis Planning and Zoning Commission from 1994-2016 when she retired after 22 years of service. Joyce enjoyed working in her yard and gardening but above all else she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Joyce leaves behind her husband of fifty-eight years, Ed Plasek; son, David Plasek and wife, Shirley; daughter, Kelly Falkenbach; grandchildren: Kara Blazier and husband, Nick, Julia Springer and husband, David, Scott Falkenbach and Haven Keilers, Haven Libal, Kaden Plasek and Nicolas Cruz; seven great-grandchildren: sister, Nancy Jurik and husband, Gray along with a host of extended family and friends.
Joyce goes home to reunite with her parents and her special aunt and uncle, Joe and Florence Vitovsky.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father John Dick as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
