EISD schools closed through April 3
Ennis Independent School District Superintendent Jay Tullos, as well as the Board of Trustees, continue to communicate to the 11-campus community a regular flow of updates in relation to the international health pandemic.
“In response to the Disaster Declaration issued by Ellis County and the City of Ennis, as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak,” Tullos told The Ennis News on Thursday, “and along with the recommendation of Ellis County officials, Ennis ISD will join other Ellis County school districts and remain closed through (Friday) April 3. We will continue to monitor the situation and will reevaluate this closure as we move forward.”
The EISD will begin offering distance learning opportunities for students on Monday, Mar. 23. More information was expected to be posted on the EISD website Friday (Mar. 20) concerning the distance learning resources.
“We understand the current situation will create many challenges for families,” explained Tullos. “However, at this time, the safety and well-being of all our students and staff is the top priority. We encourage everyone to continue to follow all health and safety protocols as we progress through this crisis.”
A fundamental need that continues to be met during the interruption of classes is the provision of meals. “We will continue providing free breakfast and lunch (Monday-Friday) for all students during this closure,” he said.
The district is also developing a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) Sheet, which will be a new section on the district website, and will assist students, parents, and staff.
