Memories of Ennis - The "Air Hobo"

That’s what he was called. Poor Alvin Breeland, the “air hobo” of Ennis, had been serving in the 11th Aero Squadron when, in 1919, the young private made national headlines for stowing away in the landing gear of a plane. During a refueling stop at Fort Bliss he was discovered. A United Press reporter asked him why he did it, and his reply was that he was “homesick and wanted to get back to Ennis.” Now that’s some hometown love.

Gov. Abbott to sign bill to allow holstered carry without a permit

Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 1927 on Wednesday to allow holstered handguns to be carried in Texas without a permit. Starting on Sept. 1st,  anyone 21 years old or older, who can legally possess a firearm in Texas can carry a handgun in public without a permit. The current law allows residents 21 years or older to carry a handgun only if they have completed the required training and criminal background check to obtain a license to carry. Gov.
