Pedestrian killed crossing Hwy 287

A spectator at the Texas Motorplex race track was struck and killed crossing US Highway 287 while departing on foot at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17.

The Fall Nationals event was taking place over the weekend when a group of people were walking across the highway to a privately owned parking area near the Texas Motorplex in Ennis. A pedestrian was hit by a 2014 Ford Mustang that was traveling southbound.

Ennis Police and Fire Departments and AMR paramedics responded to the call.

Locating the deceased body of 38-year old Emily Wade in Chambers Creek, a week after she was believed to have accidentally driven during heavy rains in January of 2019, gave her family and friends a large measure of closure. Finding her, a silver 2012 Nissan Altima with Kentucky plates (411 PAZ), has proven more challenging.

News broke after lunch this past Monday of a tragic accident involving two trucks on U.S. Highway 287 in Waxahachie. The news broke hearts in two rival towns when one of the drivers, a local baseball senior, was taken off of life-support and died of his injuries the following day at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
