Boze-Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home began in Ennis 17 years ago providing an essential service to the community since 2004. While Boze Mitchell began business in Waxahachie back in 1869, the business was purchased by Joe McKibbin in 2001. Three years later he expanded to Ennis.

From the start, after working for a corporate funeral company, he wanted his own funeral home so he could give families personal and compassionate service. Joe dedicated his life to helping people navigate through one of the most difficult experiences a family can face.

Ennis Garden Club members have elected officers for the 2021-2022 season. Having recently completed an outstanding month of Bluebonnet Trails while also sponsoring the annual Bluebonnet Festival, drawing over 35,000 visitors to downtown, the distinguished group of ladies began planning for next spring.

Rose’s Bluebonnet Sandwich Shop was, for more than 60 years, the best known hamburger joint in Dallas that no one could ever find. Well, many people did find it, but only after much searching. Owner Rose Stivers was from Alma, and despite the popularity of her burgers with die-hard foodies, she remained a small-town girl at heart and couldn’t have cared less about publicity.

Ennis Mayor Pro Tem Jake Holland is a chip off the old Czech history block.

With wife Jessica, Jake loves music and dancing – “country and polka mostly,” he says, adding, “Jessica and I won the polka dance contest at the polka festival in 2012, which earned us the title as polka festival King and Queen that year. We are both proud of our Czech heritage and are passing down the traditions to our kids.”
