Bubba’s BBQ and Steakhouse was sold on Tuesday and it didn’t take the new management team long to take over. The next day, just twenty-four hours, they said.

Bill and his wife Sam Leftwich, from Garland, are using the same crew and the same popular menu that previous owner, Tom Newell, did for most of his 30 years at the helm.

Ferris ISD expands pre-K building

Ferris plans to dedicate an 8,000 square foot new wing of pre-kindergarten classes on August 1 at Hazel Ingram Elementary School at 600 S. Central St.

In an unrelated move, the Ferris Independent School District is also constructing a 22,000 sq. ft. Agriculture Barn project. According to Superintendent James Hartman, it is expected to be ready this fall at the high school campus.

“It will provide outdoor learning opportunities and serve as a full-service care center for student animal projects,” explained Hartman.

DPS ramps up traffic enforcement for Fourth of July holiday

AUSTIN — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will conduct two traffic operations simultaneously this week to help keep drivers safe over the Fourth of July holiday. Starting Wednesday, July 3, through Friday, July 5, DPS Troopers will increase traffic enforcement as part of Operation CARE (Crash Awareness and Reduction Effort) and Operation Holiday. DPS Troopers will be looking for those violating the Move Over, Slow Down law, as well as other traffic violations such as DWI, speeding and failure to wear a seat belt, during these enforcement operations.
