Wreck kills one, injures five
A 16-year-old Waxahachie female driver died as a result of a single car accident on Saturday, Aug. 7, about 2:30 p.m. at 122 Shoreside Trail, Waxahachie. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were five other passengers in the vehicle, all of them receiving serious injuries, and were transported to hospitals in the area.
Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers were called to the site, just east of Hwy 77 on the north side of Waxahachie. The investigation is on-going and further information is not currently available.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a silver 2007 Honda Accord was traveling east on Shoreside Trail. The driver failed to negotiate a curve to the right causing the Honda to drive off the left side of the roadway. It struck a culvert and come to a stop.
UPDATE: The non-driving passengers included four from Waxahachie, a 16-year-old female, a 17-year-old female, a 16-year-old male, and a 15-year-old male in addition to a 17-year-old male from Garland.
DPS is not currently releasing the names of the juveniles nor the driver pending notification of next of kin.
