In our kitchen, one of my two simple bar stools lost one of its dowels. I should not be surprised because the stools are probably 30 years old and, as I well know, things can decline during three decades of life.

Like him or dislike him, President Donald Trump has actually accomplished a long list of campaign promises while artfully dodging a minefield set by the Democratic Party and their mouthpiece, the mainstream media. Two of the promises have shown remarkable resolve on his part.

Used to be that times were such that watching a football game on television was filled with great action and commentary. When it came to halftime the NFL had nothing, other than to break away for scores and

College and high school, on the other hand, had such great entertainment during the intermission that it drew as much attention as the game. The highstepping bands marched into positions and shape while playing traditional or contemporary tunes mad the break something to behold.

Dear Editor:

Maybe you’ve lived in Ellis County all your life, and maybe not. Maybe you already know about the statue sitting on the west lawn of the Ellis County Courthouse that honors Confederate soldiers. But maybe not. I’m hoping to change that because I think that statue must be removed from its location as soon as possible.

The monument stands 21 feet high and was erected in 1912 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy. It depicts a Confederate Private with the inscription “In honor of the dead and living of Ellis County who wore the gray.”
