When the December wedding came to a close, it was the bride’s mother who looked around at her friends from college.

“We’ve got one hour to clean up this place or I face another $250 charge.”

Say no more.

We took off our heels and these five college friends--as well as a few family members and out-of-town guests--went to work, wrapping candlesticks and glass globes, putting flowers in boxes for transport to the adjoining condominiums, breaking down tables and folding up chairs.

While performing one of a publisher’s most important duties – driving the countryside to deliver newspapers 20 miles to local post offices so they get there in a day rather than mailing them and praying they get there in three or four – I encountered numerous, large blue flags flying from houses and poles and strung across fences. I slowed to take a look.

TRUMP, this one said in giant letters. Under that it said: Keep America Great.

People today are as uptight as a long-tailed cat in a room filled with rocking chairs. Officially, folks are woke. Grammatically it means “past of wake.” The expression “stay woke” refers to a continual awareness of societal injustice, primarily racism. Some people are so woke they see offenses everywhere, every day and by everyone.
