Ennis will play an intra-squad scrimmage at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, at Lion Memorial Stadium. Admission is free. Former players, limited to those who are part of “the family,” those who played for HC Sam Harrell, are invited to the sideline for the scrimmage.

Lalani, Rios set to lead Ennis softball

It’s been since 2014 that Ennis was a state finalist in softball. The following season they were stateranked and made noise again. Their district winning streak reached 55 games in 2016. Restoring the glory years will require a talented roster of committed players, though having All-Staters like Julia Hollingsworth and Michaela Cochran would be a great help.

Community growth has prompted the Ennis Independent School District to make room for an influx of students by turning the former high school into Alamo Middle School in time for this fall. The strategic move led administration to name Alex Rendon as principal at this new sixth grade campus, though he will finish out the remainder of this semester as Assistant Principal at Ennis High School.

Ennis Band collects 1st Division rating

As cream poured into coffee will rise to the top, so the Ennis High Marching Band elevates in the heat of competition. Hosting a University Interscholastic League contest for the first time since the early 1960s, which was at what is now the Lummus Intermediate School stadium, about 20 bands in Region 20, Class 5A and smaller, the mobile sound machines played to the audience and to judges.

Four of them, including Ennis, Ferris, Red Oak and Highland Park, were awarded First Division ratings. Meanwhile, Class 6A schools were moving to music in Duncanville.
