GOP battle strategies

Midterm elections are just around the corner, and it is plain to observers that a lot is at stake. Both sides are busy trying to sell the November 8 as a battle for the soul of the nation, and they could be right.

Tuesday at City Hall drew a standing room only audience who, to borrow a phrase from the 1800’s in America, sounded as though they were loaded for bear.

Bulldogs, 2-0, win tail-wagger, 20-0

Palmer improved to 2-0 with a team defensive effort in blanking Grand Saline on the road, 20-0, on Sept. 2. The Bulldogs had seven sacks, two interceptions, 14 tackles for lost yardage and held the Indians under 200 yards. Quarterback Eric Cisneros gave his team a 7-0 first quarter lead when he fired a 29-yard scoring strike to Drew Powell and capped a 10-of-13, 162-yard outing with a 35-yard TD toss to Elijah Garcia. In between the Road Dogs ended a long, second quarter march with a three-yard charge by Cutter Burrow. He finished with 10 totes for 93 yards.

Leon Ervin Burreson

Leon Ervin Burreson, 81, passed away on September 4, 2022, at home in hospice care from a cancerous tumor in his brain. He was born in Cranfills Gap on May 17, 1941, to Lora Mae Samuelson Burreson and Ervin Austin Burreson. He went to school in Cranfills Gap and graduated in 1959. In high school he played football for the Cranfills Gap Lions for several years.

Richard Alan Roberson

Richard Alan Roberson was born in Ennis, TX as one of seven children to William Franklin and Flossie Mae (Herron) Roberson on December 8, 1929 and passed from this life to his heavenly home on September 3, 2022. Graduating from Ennis High School, and a proud member of the Ennis High School Band, Richard joined the United States Army a few years later where he spent his tour at Fort Hood, TX and later as a member of the United States Army Band stationed in France.
