Established by President Harry S. Truman (D-Mo.) in 1952 as the National Day of Prayer, it continues Thursday, May 5, with an hour-long community event. Minnie McDowell Park, on the corner of N. Dallas and W. Knox, will once again serve as host.
Ennis played themselves into the thick of a photo-finish among Class 5A thoroughbreds with an impressive 4-0 triumph over Cleburne on Tuesday in Ennis. The third win in as many games gave the Lions a shot at second place heading into Friday’s (Apr. 29) regular season finale at Cleburne.
Six local junior and senior high students were recognized for their artwork in the Bluebonnets and Trains Art Contest, which was sponsored by the Ennis Heritage Society. Their art has been on display at the Ennis Public Library. Winners received $100, $75 and $50 for first through third place.
A former Ennis civic organization, the Kiwanis Club, is planning a return to active club status. Area and regional leaders from Kiwanis International met in public settings on Monday and Tuesday of this week to determine the level of interest that exists.
