Experts are still unclear how prevalent the virus really is because a large number of cases are not reported due to mild or asymptomatic infections. But there’s no denying COVID-19 can be very risky for one large segment of the population.

City parks making strides

Leadership in Ennis reemphasized their commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents by continuing the progress made on city parks.

During Tuesday night’s City Commission meeting at the Bluebonnet Room (inside the Welcome Center), Marty Nelson updated the work currently taking place at locations at a handful of parks all the while pointing to the Parks Department’s 10- Year Master Plan of projects.

Palmer band has another All-State member

Palmer Marching Band has quite the encore. In the five years since Kyle Ramsey became

Director of Bands, the group has grown in numbers and in accomplishments.

Palmer had 55 members this past fall and are expecting similarly in August of this year. Now in full uniform and with enough members to actually spell words rather than the letter “P,” Ramsey announced that, for the second year in a row, the band has a member who earned All-State status.

Deal reached for paving Bardwell roads

Residents in nearby Bardwell, just four miles south of Ennis on State Highway 34, received a measure of good news this week related to a basic, quality of life subject, their local roads.

The condition of neighborhood streets, most of them unpaved, are in great need of repair. Potholes in the dirt roads are deep, widespread in areas and make for treacherous driving.
