Ennis Police arrested one of two men they have been seeking in connection to the December 4 double homicide on the 900 block of S. Merriot and Madison.

Two of three males suspected of robbing the AT&T Store in Corsicana (601 7th St.) were arrested by Ennis Police after a high speed chase on NB I-45 earlier in the week. The third occupant in the vehicle escaped on foot.

Covid-19 vaccines ready in Ellis Co.

Availability of COVID-19 vaccines continued this week with the fourth week of distribution in Ellis County. Four vaccination providers in Ennis have been listed, including Ennis Regional Medical Center. Each have been allotted 100 vaccines each.

The State of Texas notified county officials they were distributing 1,500 vaccines to Ellis County.

Todd Little, the county judge, released 14 sites where inoculations can be received.

Scholarships available from Master Gardener College

Ellis County Master Gardener Association continues making scholarships available to graduating high school seniors residing in Ellis County. The motive behind the higher education encouragement is to provide opportunities to students who to study horticulture and/or life sciences disciplines. The program began in 2003 and the ECMGA has awarded 46 scholarships totaling $90,100.

President Trump agrees to "orderly" transition

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump acknowledged his defeat in the Nov. 3 election and announced that there  would be an “orderly transition on January 20th”.   President Trump's acknowledgment came after a day of chaos and destruction on Capitol Hill when protesters stormed the Capitol, forcing members into hiding and halting the congressional count for more than six hours.

Arrest Made in Ennis Shooting

ENNIS POLICE made an arrest over the weekend related to the double homicide approximately three weeks ago. One local individual was apprehended in the early morning hours on Sunday at Lionbackers. Multiple warrants were issued last week, with one of the WANTED being arrested.

Jack Lummus honored at Baylor

Baylor University recently honored a pair of Medal of Honor recipients, U.S. Marine Corps 1st Lt. Andrew Jackson “Jack” Lummus, Jr and U.S. Army Corps Col. John Riley Kane. Statues were installed in the McLane Stadium Plaza on the banks of the Brazos River.

A. Haag and Millette Sherman of Houston funded the costs though a gift to the school.
