Midlothian High School was placed on lock-down at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning after school officials received a tip of a possible threat to the school, which was negated following a search by police.

On August 31 a routine traffic stop resulted in a killing spree in Odessa that ended with eight people dead, including the shooter, and over 20 people injured. In the case of the traffic stop, officers initiated the stop for failure to signal during a lane change.

Museum seeks donations

The Ellis County Museum, 201 S. College St., in Waxahachie, is still seeking donations and sponsorships from members and the general public for the group’s proposed renovation. New letters with circulars enclosed asking for aid have been mailed and are now appearing in mail boxes of citizens across the county.

Bardwell to elect mayor, Nov. 5

ELECTIONS

Bardwell, located just seven miles south of Ennis, will hold an election on November 5 for the purpose of filling its current vacant mayoral position.

The term for previous mayor, J.B. Lowery, 90, expired approximately a year ago, and there was no one who sought the office. Ellis County Judge, Todd Little, has established the need for the election. According to City Secretary Christy Gatlin two residents have applied for the position.
