Palmer’s varsity boys basketball team continued their hoop-n-holler season with a 76-39 victory over Wortham this week. Cayden Langthorn, a 5’10 sophomore, sparked the Hounds by scoring 20 points. He also pulled down nine rebounds to key the Bulldogs victory.

As first reported by InForney.com, veteran football Aaron Woods resigned from his position as athletic director and head coach of the Class 5A Forney HS Jackrabbits. He informed the Forney ISD of his decision to move on to pursue other career opportunities. It was effective immediately, though there were still two games remaining on the schedule at the time.

Last week’s District 8-5A football championship game at the 8,500 seat City Bank Stadium revealed much about playoff bound, No. 1 ranked Ennis. While the Lions took care of previously unbeaten North Forney, 38-14, a closer look gives fans reason for optimism.

HC Sam Harrell saw much to like in a convincing triumph in which North Forney tested the maroon-clad gridders in ways unseen this fall. The Falcons had success in containing the lethal passing game that had gained a minimum of 201 yards in their first six outings.

University Interscholastic League football playoffs consist of the top four teams in each district in Classes 2A up through 6A. Projecting matchups two weeks in advance is not very difficult, though predicting winners of games can always be a challenge.

The top four from Ennis’ District 8-5A are officially set, and while the league they’ll face in the bi-district round, District 7-5A, looks clear, their teams still have two games to play. Things can change.
