Even an entirely new lineup who shot the ball well couldn’t make up for a speedy, solid rebounding Poteet girls basketball team in a 71-56 home defeat for Ennis on Tuesday.
The Lady Pirates, 19-8 a year ago, broke the game open during a 19-8 second quarter. When Ennis drew to within 50-42 through three periods, the Bucs pulled away over the final eight minutes.
HC David Kilpatrick was pleased with his team’s ability to knock down open shots (43 percent), including nine three-pointers. Twenty-four turnovers took their toll in lost possessions.
