Following the five Eastern Ellis County high school volleyball teams provides a great view into what it takes to win at different levels, and while Ennis won more often than they had in years, it was Class 1A Avalon who went farthest in the postseason.
HC Tony Hernandez, who has been at the helm for 17 years, praised the work ethic of his team, which is loaded with under-classmen.
“They work hard and are learning to work together,” he said as the team prepared for the playoffs. He acknowledged a few players had transferred to Ennis but only to speak well of them.
