Productivity is the name of the game. How you go about getting ahead physically, emotionally and financially will affect your status and reputation. Think outside the box, and take the path of least resistance. If you use intelligence and insight, you will overcome any setback you encounter. Refuse to let anyone stifle your plans or come between you and someone who has always supported you. Indulgence will set you back. Consider every angle, ask questions and verify information.

Keep your life simple. Don't overreact or take on more than you can handle. Concentrate on what's important to you and give it everything you've got. If you scatter your energy, you will fall short of your expectations. An intellectual approach to life, love and happiness will pay off. Think big, but be realistic. An opportunity will be too good to ignore. Make adjustments that allow you to follow through with your plans. Rely on the lessons of experience.
Small town and a big talent can equal even larger aspirations. Jacie Lee Gray, who graduated third in her class this year at Scurry-Rosser High School, continues to hit high notes in her approach to education, faith and musical skills.
As the only child of Jeff and Pam Gray, her knack for trying new things and selfadvocation has led to being a high-achiever. Her parents make up half of the local Blue Grass quartet, the Acoustic Sound Hounds. Pam said last week that Jacie has never been afraid to ask for help, and it has paid big dividends.
Waxahachie resident Ryan Pitts announced on Wednesday, Aug. 4, that he will refrain from campaigning for the vacant State Representative seat for District 10. The opportunity arose over a week ago when Jake Ellzey, who was just elected for the position in November of 2020, was elected as a Congressman for District 6.
The void will be filled this year on a date to be announced by Governor Greg Abbott. State Rep is a two-year term.
An unexpected opportunity to return to office was too much for John Wray to resist. The Waxahachie native and former Texas State Representative announced last week a reversal of his plans after retiring from the same House Seat for District 10 seven months ago.
Wray, 51, held the position for three terms, beginning January 13, 2015 and ending January 12, 2021.
Don’t miss a rare opportunity to view history-on-wheels next Sunday, Aug. 15, when one of the world’s most powerful steam locomotives arrives in Ennis. The train will be stopped for viewing from 10:45-11:30 a.m.
Ennis was built by the cotton industry and propelled by the railroad. During World War II Union Pacific operated some of the most modern and powerful steam locomotives ever built. Among them were the famous “Big Boys,” the largest steam locomotives in the world.
When I say I love original art, I mean I love a little paint smeared on a canvas--nothing of particular value, mind you, but the idea of an idea…the representation of something worth remembering.
