One of the most beloved women in Ennis, Sandy Anderson, passed away on Nov. 9 following a courageous bout with cancer. She lived an illustrated life and was involved in numerous causes and organizations and was viewed by many as a living embodiment of Ennis.

Some of her admirers or colleagues spoke about what she was known for, or about her life as a passionate advocate for all things Ennis. She left little doubt about how strongly she believed.

The annual Lights of Ennis Christmas Parade and Block Party is Thursday, Dec. 2, starting at 5 p.m. and followed by the parade at 7 p.m. Sundown is expected at 5:20 p.m., so planning to arrive early to take in all of the festivities in the heart of downtown is suggested.

An annual crowd-pleaser, the Lights of Ennis (LOE) Christmas Parade returns in all of its splendor on Thursday evening, Dec. 2. It all begins at 7p.m., moving east on Ennis Avenue towards downtown.

According to Jennifer Wilson, of the Ennis Chamber of Commerce, there will be over 50 entries in the parade, and every one will be wrapped in lights.

Harrison opens ‘Hachie office

Newly-elected Brian Harrison, the District 10 State Representative from Midlothian, hosted an open house on Nov. 22 at his district office in downtown Waxahachie, the Ellis County seat.

It is located inside the historic Rogers Hotel, a venue built in 1913, at 100 N. College St., Suite 306, catty-corner from the old Ellis County Courthouse.

Local author and actress Sandra Wakefield is gearing up for a new round of one-woman plays that have become popular over the last few years, a series called Women of the Bible.

“I present these true-to-life portrayals for churches, clubs and in individual homes,” Wakefield said.

Founder of Fearless Heart Ministry and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Ennis, Wakefield is not letting Covid-19 hold her back, and since 2019 she has added four new characters to her series, most of these over the last year.
