Six editions of Game Day begins this Wednesday, Aug. 28. There will be four others during the football regular season and at least one for the playoffs. The section will include a cover feature of Ennis at Waxahachie and the Battle of 287. Inside will be updates on the Big 5 teams that reveal the starting line-up for each. Fans will love the start of U-Pick’Em, with the most interesting high school, college and pro football games that has a local slant. Submit your picks and you may win a cash prize. First glimpse of a new edition of Ennis maroon will take place on Monday, Aug. 19, when Meet the Lions takes place at 6:30 p.m. at Lion Memorial Stadium. Thousands of fans will cheer for the initial introduction of the high school cheerleaders, the Lionettes and the largest-ever Ennis marching band. They will be followed by members of all fall athletic teams, including the football players on the freshman, junior varsity and varsity teams, as well as the rosters of the Ennis tennis, cross country and volleyball teams, to name a few.

Ennis scrimmages Legacy at home, Thursday

Ennis and Mansfield Legacy will take to the turf on Thursday, Aug. 22, for a football scrimmage. The two teams met a year ago before a crowd that numbered in the thousands.

The event starts at 5 p.m. when freshmen and junior varsity players will scrimmage for approximately and hour, followed by the Lions and Broncos at 6 p.m.

The Lady Gladiators played together with the precision of clockwork during a tournament hosted by Dawson, 22 miles southwest of Corsicana on SH 31. Battling to several ties, meaning they split two games, Italy advanced to the championship.
